Experience the Steel Bending Process Like You Have Never Seen Before
The steel bending world, and life, is 360 degrees - now technology is too. We will be offering a drawing for a new Samsung Galaxy S7 Smart Phone and GearVR (virtual reality) googles next week when we exhibit at the NASCC (North American Steel Construction Conference) in San Antonio. Visit our BOOTH #8130 and see for yourself how awesome this new technology is and step into our virtual shop to experience the bending process first hand. One lucky winner will win a new phone and the virtual reality googles! Don't miss out on this opportunity. Sign up today!
Albina Contributes Bent Steel to Improve Roadways and Road Conditions
Does traffic frustrate you? Are you tired of facing poor road conditions and various road hazards when driving? Albina is teaming up where ever we can with contractors to provide bent steel for new road construction. New roads in high traffic areas will help alleviate traffic congestion and will provide commuters with better roads and driving conditions. One such area in Oregon that has historically had very high congestion is the highway connecting the cities of Newberg and Dundee. Certain times of the day this highway sits at a standstill. Fortunately, there is a new Bypass road being built that will help with the heavy traffic congestion. Albina will be providing the bent steel for the new Newberg Dundee Bypass. Materials include: TS 10" X 4" X .375" WALL A500 GR B TS 12" X 8" X .375" WALL A500 GR B Materials are bent the Hard way to various configurations. All materials are bent to AESS (architecturally exposed structural steel) standards. For more information on the project you can read a recent update posted on Oregon.gov.
Spiral Coils for Industrial Heat Exchanger
Albina spiral coiled ½" OD X .065" WALL stainless steel tube heat exchanger for an industrial application. We were supplied with only the existing coil to reproduce from. The coils were bent in one continuous piece that spirals down on the inside and then steps out and spirals back over itself. The sheet between was not needed to complete the bends but was left in place to match the existing design. Steel Angle Bending for New Rides at the Seaworld Ocean Explorer Project
Do you require a fast lead-time for a RUSH high profile construction project? Well look no further than Albina Co., Inc. Albina has recently teamed up with a very loyal longtime customer to make the bends for the Seaworld Ocean Explorer project in San Diego, CA. Albina received authorization to proceed on 1/25/17 and 7 working days later we were shipping the first 48,000# truckload of bent steel! Our customer thought they were asking for a miracle and Albina was happy to provide exactly what was required. Albina processed 40 ft, 50 ft and 60 ft lengths of bent steel angle: 14" OD X .375" WALL A500 GR. B 8" X 4" X ½" ANGLE A36 8" X 6" X ½" ANGLE A36 8" X 8" X ½" ANGLE A36 All of the angle were bent to various radii, some of the lengths were bent leg-in and others leg-out. The Seaworld Ocean Explorer project will feature a mini-sub interactive ride called Submarine Quest and three new family-inspired rides inspired by the sea. Pictures will be posted upon completion of the project.
Do U need U-Tubes Bent for Heat Exchangers?
Albina is currently bending: 259 lengths x 20 ft of 3/4" OD X .049" WALL T304 S/S. 279 lengths x 33 ft of 1" OD X .049" WALL ASTM B338 GRADE 7 SMLS 858 lengths x 30 ft of 1" OD X .065" WALL Zr702 For these heat exchanger “u-tube” projects we bend to various radii configurations and all bends are at 180°. After bending, we always trim both ends of the bend, deburr the ends after trimming, wash the ID of the tubing and securely package the bent tubes in custom made wooden crates. All of the bends are bent and checked to RDB-2.31 and ASME Section II-B, SB-163, S1.2.3 standards for wall thinning and ovailty. If high quality bends that won’t fail are required, industrial companies know to come to Albina. Do U? See some U-Tube bends below. Spiral Steel Staircase at Brickell Academy in Virginia Beach, VA.
Albina recently completed the spiral bending of 24 pieces of Tube Steel 14" X 4" X .500" WALL A500 GR B the easy way and 10 pieces of Tube Steel 12" X 3" X .375" WALL A500 GR B the easy way for a gorgeous spiral steel staircase at Brickell Academy in Virginia Beach, VA. All of the material for the curved staircase and landing was architecturally exposed structural steel. Cargo Heating Pipe Coils Bent for Barge Tanks
Albina is much more than just a structural bending facility. We service ALL industries that might require bent steel. Recently Albina was involved with a large industrial application where we orovided Cargo Heating Pipe Coils for tanks in barges. We were responsible for bending, trimming and washing each of the 488 lengths x 40 ft 2" SCH40 SA106B SMLS to net 880 pcs. All bends were made to a 6” center-line-radius and our quality control department had to 100% QC parts to make sure the backwall thinning of the material was not below .079” and that ovality of the material was minimized. After processing the first phase of this project the customer immediately placed 3 more releases as they were pleased with the quality, fair pricing, communication and customer service offered by Albina.
Curved Steel at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles
Albina is currently working on 130,000 pounds of curved steel for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures located in LA. Albina is bending Square Tube Steel 6" X 6" X .500" WALL A500 GR B and Rectangular Tube Steel 7" X 4" X .500" WALL A500 GR B (approx. 190 pcs in total to various radii and configurations). The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will be the world's premier film museum and a cultural institution for Los Angeles and will provide a destination for tourists to celebrate the magic and imagination of Hollywood and the movies. Check back for pictures as the project progresses.
LAX Midfield Satellite Concourse North Expansion
Do you like innovative and eye catching architecture? You should take a look at the new LAX Midfield Satellite Concourse North Project. This new project is part of an estimated $1.2 billion dollar modernization program at Los Angeles International Airport. The satellite concourse will be a remote facility initially served by an airport busing operation and a passenger access tunnel (PAX) connection to the Bradley West Terminal. The new MSC will permit greater flexibility in scheduling improvements at other facilities, reduce reliance on remote gates, and ensure a high level of service for LAX passengers. Albina is partnering with Schuff Steel and is bending all of the steel for this project. There is over 1 million pounds of bent steel in this project consisting of curved HSS (Hallow Structural Steel) as well as structural steel members.
Solar Panel Project Underway!
We are continuing our efforts to reduce our collective dependence on fossil fuel and we are installing a solar power system on our shop roof to derive clean, pure energy from the sun! We are doing our part to go green and reduce our carbon footprint. Here is what we are doing: • We are installing a 135kW (kilowatt) system. • The panels will be covering the roof of our 4th bay (this bay is 12,500 square feet)….that is a lot of solar panels. • Our building is perfect for solar as we have no shading and the panels will be southern facing for optimal efficiency for all seasons. • One array of solar cells will be 45 ft x 106 ft and the second array of solar cells will be 45 ft x 113 ft. • We will generate our own power for use. If we have excess power it will go back to the grid. What are you doing to reduce your carbon footprint? Do you consider the what your vendors or suppliers are doing to combat greenhouse gas emissions and global warming? People who are continuously looking for ways to improve their output without having an adverse effect on the environment is the type of vendor you want working for you. Vendors who look for new and innovative ways to improve their business will be the same ones that will give you a quality product and care about the outcome of your project.
