World of Speed, a nonprofit experiential motor sports exposition, purchased an 80,000 square foot building in Wilsonville, Oregon as the permanent home for an auto racing and performance car tourism destination and an auto industry educational program. A local contractor partnered with Albina Co., Inc. to have us bend the curved steel canopy on the top of the building. Materials consisted of 6" SCH80 A53B rolled to a 48’ 4” center-line-radius. The customer will net 78’ 4” of bent material. All roll material is Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel. In the June edition of Metal Architecture The AIA (American Institute of Architects) and its Committee on the Environment (COTE) selected the top 10 examples of sustainable architecture and ecological design projects to be honored at the AIA National Convention this weekend. Albina Co., Inc. was the bender/roller for the exterior curved tube steel on the facade of the Edith Green-Wendell Wyatt Federal Building in Portland, Oregon. Alibna recently bent 1¼” OD x .065” wall T304 stainless steel for custom vacuum parts. Albina then added several "value add" services including trimming, machining one end after the trim, and deburring and breaking all edges post machining.
