Does Your Construction Project Require Bollards?
Albina just recently completed work on a project that required 252 pcs of 2” Sch40 A53B ERW pipe bent for bollards. Each “staple” bollard was bent on a 6” center-line-radius (a double 90° configuration). All parts were held to a +/- 1/8” center-center dimension and they had to avoid all moisture (they could not rust). To avoid rust, all raw material and then finished product were store inside our facility. Prior to loading on a truck all parts were placed on pallets and covered with shrink wrap to protect them from moisture.
Updated Pictures of Curved Rectangular Tube Steel "Spheres" Covered in Glass
See below for the most recent pictures of the curved steel "Spheres" in Seattle, WA. 750,000# and 1,050 pieces rectangular tube steel bent the easy way and a portion bent off-axis. Almost 8 miles of welding work and grinding was avoided because of Albina's ability to bend a portion of the project. Almost NO correction was needed during fabrication or erection as the bends fit to the fixtures within 1/32nd of an inch! New Spiral Staircase at Golden West College Huntington Beach, CA.
Albina is happy to be teamed up with a very loyal fabricator on the Golden West College Project located in Huntington Beach, CA. Construction of a new 51,969 square foot building at the center of campus will house all student services. A new spiral staircase with landings was required for the new building and the California fabricator new the best choice for this project was Albina. This project required Tube Steel 16" X 4" X .500" WALL A500 GR B material to be spiral bent for the stringers and also bent flat (the easy way) for the landing supports. The spiral staircase also required some smaller HSS square tubing for stringers and landings out of Tube Steel 6" X 6" X .625" WALL A500 GR B. Everything on this project was bent to AESS standards.
Partnership Health Plan of California Construction Project Required Bent Rectangular Tube Steel
Recently a customer approached us with a very difficult steel bending project and wanted to know if Albina Co., Inc. was able to perform the difficult bends. The steel bends were for the Partnership Health Plan of California construction project. Partnership HealthPlan of California has outgrown its current home and will add a new 104,000-square-foot office building that will sit next to its current headquarters on Business Center Drive. This project consisted of primarily HSS Rectangular Tubing. The largest tube measures 20” x 8” x .375” wall and the smallest measures 8” x 4” x .500” wall. Some of the lengths were bent the easy way while other lengths were bent the hard way. Utilizing our in-house developed internal support system we roll bent all of the HSS material without any heat and exceeded all of our customers quality requirements.

Induction Bending of Rectangular Tube Steel for New Additions at Olympic Towne Center in Gig Harbor, Washington
Albina is working on bending rectangular hallow structural steel for the Olympic Towne Center project in West Gig Harbor, Washington. The Olympic Towne Center development will boast 186,291 square feet of retail space and will anchored by a 65,000 square foot grocery store. This project requires Albina to bend some TS 12" X 3" X .375" WALL A500 GR B rectangular tubing. Part of the project consists of spiral bent stair stringers, induction bent, down to an 6 foot plan view radius! This is a very tight radius for spiral bending HSS members. We are induction bending this material with our in-house designed induction bending method which will result in the highest quality spiral bends seen in the industry. We are also providing bends for the stair case landings. These bends are also down to a 6 foot radius and will all be provided to AESS quality standards.
Bridge Drain Elbows Often Required on New and Retrofit Bridge Construction
Not all bridges are designed out of bent steel, however, most bridges DO require bent components. One such component, required on both retrofit or new bridge construction, is what is known as a bridge drain elbow. Albina is bending 6” Sch10 material on a new bending machine with new bend tooling for a Caltrans project. The bridge drain pipes we are supplying are 52 pieces in total that we are bending to a 18” center-line-radius (a 3d bend) at 90°. We are working closely with our customer to meet the tight Caltrans delivery requirements for this project. Stay tuned for some images of this project!

Keep Things "COOL" at Albina
Albina just bent and welded 27 lengths x 20 ft to make 3 cooling coil assemblies for a refrigeration project. All material processed was 1¼” Sch80 SA106B seamless. Albina roll bent the material to the requested coil configurations. We trimmed the coils to size and draw bent the terminals and welded the terminals to the coils. Each cooling coil assemble was pressure tested after fabrication for leaks. Once we completed this project we shipped it across the country to Maryland!
