Another Phase of Work Completed for the Stanford ChEM-H & SNI Building
Albina recently finished another phase of work for the new Stanford ChEM-H & SNI Building located on the Stanford University Campus. This latest phase consisted of 35,000# of bent HSS (rectangular and square tubing). Tube Steel 12" X 2" X .250" WALL A500 GR B, bent the easy way down to a 15 ft radius (cold) Tube Steel 20" X 12" X .500" WALL A500 GR B, bent the easy way down to a 100 ft radius Tube Steel 14" X 14" X .375" WALL A500 GR B, down to a 15 ft radius (cold) To see artist renderings of the project and to learn more about the building's design please visit GGN's (Gustafson Guthrie Nichol) website. We Can Split Any Size Wide Flange Into "T" and Straighten To Mill Tolerances
We can split any size wide flange into "T" and straighten, in our profile roll bending equipment, to mill tolerances. Albina recently split W8 X 24# A992 into 192 pieces of WT4 x 12#. After splitting we rolled stem out to a 35 ft radius. We also bent 96 pieces of 4" X 4" X ¼" ANGLE A36 to the same 35 ft radius (legout). All of the beam splitting and rolling was for a new City Office Building in Northern California. 60,000# of Bent Tube Steel for Young Living Global Headquarters in Lehi, Utah
Albina Co., Inc. recently bent 60,000# of Tube Steel 18" X 6" X .625" WALL A500 GR B for the Young Living Global Headquarters in Lehi, Utah. Young Living Global is a world leader in producing essential oils and broke ground in May 2017 for its 263,000 square-foot, world-class building which was designed to complement Young Living’s philosophy of living harmoniously with nature. They focused on green initiatives in both the indoor and outdoor design. “The care and detail that went into designing our headquarters was a collaborative effort to capture our Founder and Chairman of the Board D. Gary Young’s vision for an architectural representation of the spirit of wellness and abundance that Young Living embodies,” said Jared Turner, Young Living Chief Operating Officer. “I am certain this campus will be one-of-a-kind, inside and out; and we look forward to sharing it with our local community and all who wish to visit.” We bent a total of 53 pieces and all of them were bent the easy way or spiral bent the easy way to as tight as a 43 foot radius. All of the steel material was bent to Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel standards.
Rolled Plate and Pipe Help Customer Construct a "Chute"
We recently received these pictures from our customer. They used our rolled steel materials to construct this "chute." Albina rolled 6" SCH40 A53B ERW down to a 12 ft radius (tightest) and also rolled 1/2" A36 plate to fit to the laser cut plate on the face of the chute. We are hoping to get some pictures of the "chute" in action and will pass them along as soon as we do. 60,000# of Bent Steel for The Living Desert Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Palm Desert, CA.
We just finished a project for The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in Palm Desert, California which consisted of over 60,000# of bent steel! This project consisted of AESS (Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel) material including both angle to rectangular tubing. The rectangular tubing ranged from 2” x 1” up to 16” x 8"! This is a great example of how well we can handle so many various sizes of material from the small to the big! We do it all! Another highlight of this project is that we were able to take the 10" X 6" X .375" WALL A500 GR B Tube Steel to a 7 ft radius! A very difficult accomplishment.
Do You Want to Extend the Life of Your Industrial Pipe Elbows, Reduce Downtime and Maintenance Costs?
If you answered yes, than you should consider wearbacks for your elbows. For decades, Albina has supplied customers with bent elbows where we weld a plate or channel to the outside of the bend (acting as the wearback). A wearback is installed to act as an additional layer to the bend, when the backside of an elbow finally is worn through, any materials running in the piping system will remain inside and the piping system will continue to function due to the extra layer of material on the backside of the elbow. We recently bent some 8" SCH80 T304L S/S SMLS to 30° elbows. After bending the elbows, we bent and fabricated wearbacks out of ½” stainless plate and welded the wearbacks to the outside of the pipe elbows.
Rolled Steel for Unmanned Aircraft Hangar
We have all heard about drones and how they may play a role in our future. Like it or not, drone technology is getting better and better and the areas of the business sector where they can and will play a large roll in the growth and development of certain areas of business. Albina has just finished rolling 50,000# of steel for a new UNMANNED AIRCRAFT HANGAR. For this project we rolled 6” angle, square tubing 3" x 3" and 6" x 6", as well as wide flange ranging from W8# to W18#. Stay tuned for some installation pictures in the near future.
Albina’s New Plate Roll Is In Action!
Our new plate roll is busy and we have some great projects on the machine right now. We are in the process of bending material for some custom tanks made out of Nickel material. This project consists of various tanks rolled to different diameters. All material is Nickel 201 ranging in thickness from 3/16” to 3/8”. The plate sections are up to 72” long prior to rolling. Diameters we are rolling to range from 57” to 107”. In addition to the tanks we are proving the cooling tubes as well. Cooling tubes are bent out of 1” Sch40 Nickel 201 (with terminals) to match the diameter of the tanks. Needless to say, this is a fun and challenging project!
2" Sch 40 Curved Steel Bollards for Vehicle Control
Albina is your steel bending expert for large material as well as small material! We just finished a project that required 650 safety bollards. Bollards are thick, low posts, usually made of iron or steel for the purpose of diverting traffic from an area or road and also often used on a wharf for fastening mooring lines. This particular project was used for auto traffic diversion and the bollards were constructed out of 2" SCH40 A53B ERW BARE, bent to a 6” center-line-radius x 180 degrees. We produce custom bollards for urban traffic and vehicle control, for fastening mooring lines, as barriers and barricades, for pedestrian security, for ornamental landscape structures and for unique bike rack solutions.
Steel Bending Complete for the LAX Midfield Satellite Concourse North Expansion
Albina has finished the steel bending for the new LAX Midfield Satellite Concourse North Project. This project was part of an estimated $1.2 billion dollar modernization program at Los Angeles International Airport. Albina partnered with Schuff Steel and we bent over 1.2 million pounds of curved HSS (Hallow Structural Steel) as well as structural steel members for the project. This project consisted of various structural shapes and sizes and resulted in 0% rework. The steel bending was done over 7 months and we were able to meet or exceed all of our customers scheduling requirements. The satellite concourse will be a remote facility initially served by an airport busing operation and a passenger access tunnel (PAX) connection to the Bradley West Terminal. The new MSC will permit greater flexibility in scheduling improvements at other facilities, reduce reliance on remote gates, and ensure a high level of service for LAX passengers.
