Albina Co., Inc. recently provided 102,000# of bent steel for the curved roof structure at the UCHealth Steadman Hawkins Clinic Denver in Englewood, Colorado. The building will serve as a rehabilitation and sports medicine center in Denver. The project's most prominant feature is the 185-ft-long, 40-ft-wide curved steel roof. The project is featured on the cover and as a feature article in of the February Issue of Modern Steel.

Albina provided the following materials for the project:

Albina Co., Inc., was lucky enough to be the bender/roller for a beautiful spiral staircase that graces the lobby of one of the major tech companies headquartered in San Jose, California. Albina bent the following materials for the project:

The Inside stringer for the staircase was rolled to a 26’-11” radius and the outside stringer was rolled to a 32’-3” radius.

Albina bent some channel for a boardwalk at the Evelyn Schiffler Memorial Park in Beaverton, OR. In the very center of the park, a 2.4-acre wetland attracts native wildlife. It can be appreciated from two long stretches of boardwalk consisting of:

Today’s Infrastructure Highlight: Curved Steel for Bridges

Albina bent 40,000# of steel for the Freyer-Newman Center, home to Denvers’ Botanical Gardens. Albina bent 60 pieces of W8 X 31# A992 the hard way to a full scale layout. We also bent Tube Steel 8" X 6" X .500" WALL A500 GR B the hard way and MC8 X 20# A36 the hard way. The Freyer - Newman Center is a LEED GOLD building, designed by Denver’s Davis Partnership Architects. The Center will house six classrooms; four galleries; new herbaria for vascular plants, mushrooms and slime molds; laboratories; a new library and a coffee shop, and is slated for completion this spring. “A Monumental Journey” by Kelly James Marshall for the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation. The monument is featured in the August issue of Modern Steel “What’s Cool In Steel.” The monument celebrates the legacy of African American laywers who founded the the National Bar Association in 1925 and the monument symbolizes communication among diverse people and legal system, that while not perfect, strives to be balanced. 3 x 40 ft: 5" X 5" X 5/16" ANGLE A36. Cut and bent to net 8 pcs (leg out). Bent down to a 68” inside radius.
1 x 20 ft: MC3 X 7.1# A36. Cut and bent to net 2 pcs (flanges in).
2 x 48 ft: TS 6" X 6" X .625" WALL A500 GR B. Cut and bent to net 4 pcs. Bent down to a 58” inside radius.
1 x 48 ft: TS 6" X 6" X .375" WALL A500 GR B. Cut and bent to net 2 pcs. Bent down to a 77” inside radius.

We spent Thanksgiving touring around the beautiful state of Arizona. We saw many of the beautiful sights in Sedona and even went to visit the Grand Canyon. One of the highlights of the trip was our stop at Sloan Park, home of the Chicago Cubs Spring Training. We were anxious to see the field, but equally as excited about getting some pictures of the 50,000 pounds of steel we bent for some custom gates that sit above the stands at the park. The gates hold the overhead field lights. We bent various materials for this project including: W6 X 15# A992. 80 pcs total. Bent the hard way to a 8’-9” radius. C6 X 8.2# A36. 42 pcs total bent flanges in to a 10 ft radius. WT8 X 18# A992. 4 pcs stem out and 6 pcs stem in bent to a 10 ft radius and to a 56 ft radius. TS 3" X 3" X .188" WALL A500 GR B. 30 pcs bent to a 4’-4” radius and 17 pcs bent to a 11’-6” radius. 4" X 3" X ¼" ANGLE A36. 20 pcs total. Some rolled leg in and others leg out. All pcs were bent to a 95 ft – 105 ft radius. 7" X 4" X 3/8" ANGLE A36. 7 pcs rolled leg in and 1 pc rolled let out. All pcs were bent to a 10 ft – 90 ft radius. MC6 X 18# A36. 4 pcs rolled the hard way to an 11 ft radius. TS 6" X 6" X .250" WALL A500 GR B. 3 pcs rolled to an 11 ft radius. 8" X 8" X ½" ANGLE A36. 3 pcs rolled let out to a 52 ft radius.
