Spiral Stringers Help Create Stunning Staircase at Altar'd State at The Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace
Spiral Stringers Help Create Stunning Staircase at Altar'd State at The Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace

Albina Co., Inc. recently rolled 16 pieces of 5/8" plate A36 to as tight as a 162" radius. Six pieces of plate were used as the inside stringers of a beautiful spiral staircase at Altar'd State at the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace. Six pieces of plate were used as the outside stringers of the staircase, and four pieces were used on the landings. We bent the stringers, trimmed rectangular treat cut outs, trimmed to length, match paired plates, tacked them together and match drilled all holes. We bolt matched the plates together with a 6 bolts, (2) on the end, (2) in the middle, and (2) on the other end.

We also bent 2½" X 2½" X ¼" ANGLE A36 to help create the spiral staircase. Materials included:

1 piece leg in to a 25” inside radius.  Albina to bend 180° minimum.

1 piece leg out to a 162” inside radius.  Albina to bend 70” minimum arc.

1 piece leg out to a 30” inside radius.  Albina to bend 36” minimum arc.

1 piece leg out to a 19” inside radius.  Albina to bend 80” minimum arc.

1 piece leg in to a 38” inside radius.  Albina to bend 180° minimum.

Lastly, we bent one piece of Flat Bar 5/8" x 12" A36 UM Plate leg in to a 38” inside radius and 180° minimum.

Modern Steel Magazine Highlights "The Madison Center" Curved Steel Features in June Issue

The Madison Center is a 530 foot tall, 36 story high rise office building in Seattle, Washington and is featured in the June edition of Modern Steel. Albina Co., Inc. was the bender/roller on this project and worked specifically on what is being called "The Great Room" which is a 45-foot tall steel framed entryway rotunda. Albina bent many material types for this project including tube steel 8" x 6" up to 12" x 12", 3" x 3" angle, W10 and W16 wide flange, 8" pipe and more. Check out the article for some more details on the architectural feat and some great pictures. We will be heading up to Seattle soon to get some pictures of our own to share. Stay tuned!

Curved Steel Gates at Chicago Cubs Spring Training Facility of Sloan Park
Curved Steel Gates at Chicago Cubs Spring Training Facility of Sloan Park

We spent Thanksgiving touring around the beautiful state of Arizona. We saw many of the beautiful sights in Sedona and even went to visit the Grand Canyon. One of the highlights of the trip was our stop at Sloan Park, home of the Chicago Cubs Spring Training. We were anxious to see the field, but equally as excited about getting some pictures of the 50,000 pounds of steel we bent for some custom gates that sit above the stands at the park. The gates hold the overhead field lights. We bent various materials for this project including: W6 X 15# A992. 80 pcs total. Bent the hard way to a 8’-9” radius. C6 X 8.2# A36. 42 pcs total bent flanges in to a 10 ft radius. WT8 X 18# A992. 4 pcs stem out and 6 pcs stem in bent to a 10 ft radius and to a 56 ft radius. TS 3" X 3" X .188" WALL A500 GR B. 30 pcs bent to a 4’-4” radius and 17 pcs bent to a 11’-6” radius. 4" X 3" X ¼" ANGLE A36. 20 pcs total. Some rolled leg in and others leg out. All pcs were bent to a 95 ft – 105 ft radius. 7" X 4" X 3/8" ANGLE A36. 7 pcs rolled leg in and 1 pc rolled let out. All pcs were bent to a 10 ft – 90 ft radius. MC6 X 18# A36. 4 pcs rolled the hard way to an 11 ft radius. TS 6" X 6" X .250" WALL A500 GR B. 3 pcs rolled to an 11 ft radius. 8" X 8" X ½" ANGLE A36. 3 pcs rolled let out to a 52 ft radius. Bending Steel Angle Heel Up, Heel Out, Heel In, Leg In and Leg Out! Plus Bulb Flat!

We bend all sizes of angle that the mill produces, up to 8” x 8” x 1¼”. We can bend all types of angle as well; including aluminum, stainless and carbon steel. Carbon angle (mill produced) is classified as ASTM A36 resulting in a yield point (PSI) of 36,000 minimum. We bend all stock lengths as well as non-stock lengths. Stock lengths range from 20 to 40 feet. Angle is produced with equal legs and unequal legs. Unequal legs would measure differently on the horizontal leg versus the vertical leg. We have the ability to bend angle with the leg in, leg out, heel in, heel out and heel up. We also have the ability to bend bulb flat. Bulb flat is similar to angle with one of the legs cut down to a very short "stub". We can bend bulb flat with the stem out and the stem in. We can bend all mill sizes produced up to 430 mm x 20 mm (16.93” wide x .787” thick). Bent angle can be used for many different applications. The most common application would be angle flanges which are full circles that are used to join sections of pipe together. Bent angle is also used for canopies, roof trusses and tunnel shoring applications.
