Curved Steel Spiral Stair Stringers at Suffolk County Community College
Suffolk County Community College (SCCC), recently opened its new $30 million, 75,000 square foot Learning Resource Center (LRC) and library on the Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood, Long Island, New York. Albina Co., Inc. bent the steel spiral stringers for the project. The steel spiral stringers consisted of spiral bent tube steel 20" X 4" X .500" WALL A500 GR B the easy way to a 14 ft. plan view radius. We also bent the landings to a similar radius. We also spiral bent tube steel 14" X 10" X .500" WALL A500 GR B the easy way to a 19 ft. plan view radius and the landings also to a similar radius. Curved Steel Bent to a Complicated "S" Configuration for Simon Fraser University
Albina Co., Inc. recently bent 90 pieces of Tube Steel 8" X 4" X .375" WALL A500 GR C the hardway to a complicated “S” configuration. The tightest “S” section that we bent was down to a 59” radius. All of the material was bent cold on our profile rolling equipment. This steel was shipping to a good customer in Canada to be fabricated and then installed at Simon Fraser University.
Steel Spiral Staircase for Goodwin Proctor Law Offices in California
Albina Co., Inc. recently completed bending spiral stringers of tube steel 10” x 6” x .625” wall all spiral bent the easy way down to a 7’ 4” inside radius. The stingers were bent for a Goodwin Proctor Law Office located in California. Albina Co., Inc. is the #1 steel stringer bender in the nation because Albina doesn’t split HSS prior to bending and then weld the sections back together to meet your needs, our HSS members are bent as HSS members. Albina doesn’t fill your HSS with other structural members. We are able to bend HSS members without adding extra material and weight and are still able to meet or exceed your quality requirements. Albina will bend your HSS stringers out of HSS material; we don’t make "built up stringers" out of plate. Steel Spiral Staircase Goodwin Proctor-1 Steel Spiral Staircase Goodwin Proctor-1
Steel Spiral Staircase at the John J. Hemmingson Center Gonzaga University
Albina Co., Inc. bent 40,000 lbs. of various sizes of tube steel for the spiral staircases at the John J. Hemmingson Center at Gonzaga University Spokane, WA. Materials consisted of Tube Steel 16" X 8" X .500" WALL A500 GR B rolled the easy way down to a 22 ft radius. These lengths of material were spiral bent using our induction heating process to AESS standards. We also bent Tube Steel 12" X 6" X .250" WALL A500 GR B rolled the hard way down to a 19 ft radius. The John J. Hemmingson Center was completed in 2015 and serves as a meeting place for students, staff and visitors the University. We visited the campus shortly after it opened and my son will tell you that the highlight for him was the cafe where you can make your own milkshakes! He was sold from then on out and hopes to attend Gonzago University himself one day! Spiral Stair Stringers for an Office Complex in San Francisco, California
We provide both functional and fancy solutions when supplying spiral stringers for spiral, circular and helical staircases to our customers. We specialize in architectural exposure quality spiraling of tube steel, channel, plate and pipe to amazingly tight radii and steep pitches. We work on both commercial and residential applications. We recently spiral bent Tube steel 10" X 6" X .625" WALL A500 GR B the easy way down to a very tight 7 ft inside radius for an office complex in San Francisco, CA. All of the material was bent to AESS (Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel) standards. We are currently working on obtaining some amazing pictures of another project, the spiral staircase that we completed for the University of Gonzaga Student Union. I will post the pictures as soon as we received them so check back!
Spiral Steel Bending for University of Kansas Bridge
Albina really enjoyed seeing some of our valued customers at the NASCC trade show earlier in 2017. After the show Albina was asked to spiral bend some TS 20" X 4" X .500" WALL A500 GR B material! This very difficult material was successfully bent by Albina to a varying pitch over the entire length. This bending project was for the Cambridge North Bridge at the University of Kansas. This particular customer is located in Kansas. They know, if you want it done right, you call Albina. No matter how far away they are located.
Steel Spiral Stringers for Mills High School Curved Staircase
Albina Co., competes all over North America. This summer Albina finished processing some TS 18" X 6" X .500" WALL A500 GR B for Mills High School located in Arkansas. Albina spiral bent the rectangular tubing the easy-way to a 15 ft plan view radius and also bent the landing / flat sections the easy way to the same 15 ft radius. Everything on this project was to AESS standards. Albina is the national expert in HSS spiral stringer bending. Our quality standards are unmatched. Do not let distance be a deterrent, consider us your "local" bending partner and experience the unmatched quality and service we offer at Albina Co., Inc.
Efficient Bending of HSS for Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art at the University of California, Davis
Modern Steel recently interviewed our very own General Manager, Mark King, to help construct the recently published article "Above all, ART" that highlights the precise structural design and inspiring architecture of the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art at the University of California, Davis. As a bender/roller, we were involved early enough in the process that we were able to reduce complicated curves, simplify the steel bending and reduce significant costs. The canopy consisted of HSS 14" x 10" rectangular tubing bent in multiple planes (both the easy way and the hard way). An important highlight of the project was that some of the material that was bent in multiple planes was rotated off-axis by a slight amount, and the radius was large enough, that we were able to bend it cold, which is a faster process than hot bending. Albina Co., Inc. was the bender/roller for the Amazon Curved Steel Bio-Sphere buildings in Seattle, WA. Albina bent 750,000# and 1,050 pieces rectangular tube steel bent the easy way and a portion bent off-axis. Almost 8 miles of welding work and grinding was avoided because of Albina’s ability to bend a portion of the project. Almost NO correction was needed during fabrication or erection as the bends fit to the fixtures within 1/32nd of an inch! See the most recent article published in the Seattle Times.
Curved Rectangular Tube Steel Bridge at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts
Segerstrom Center for the Arts, originally called Orange County Performing Arts Center, is a performing arts complex located in Costa Mesa, California, United States, which opened in 1986. Albina Co., Inc. recently completed rolling rectangular tube steel 6" X 4" X .250" WALL A500 GR B bent the hard way to a 14’-3” center line radius. We are unique in how we bend square and rectangular (HSS) for a number of reasons. When we roll bend HSS we typically fill the material with mandrels, where we turn the hollow material into a solid. This helps minimize distortion without increasing the thickness of the material. Also during roll bending we use custom made radius corner tooling to match the radius corner of different thicknesses of HSS material. This match between tooling and material result in much higher quality bends. When we bend stringers for spiral staircases we do not fill the HSS material with permanent structural members to control distortion. Instead, we have developed methods to hot bend or induction bend HSS materials to a spiral configuration without filling the hollow part of the material. This unique process allows our customers to take HSS stringers for their staircases without added weight or inconveniences of filler materials.
