Believe it or not, but Albina ships our bent steel all over the US and Canada! In fact, we recently finished a project for the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Our bent steel shipped to our customer in Virginia to be fabricated and was then shipped to the job site in Pennsylvania. We spiral and flat bent TS 20" X 12" X .625" WALL A500 GR B the easy way down to a 56 ft radius.

We were recently involved with some bending for the Digestive Health Institute of Montana, the largest gastrointestinal (GI) medical group in Montana. Approximately 30,000 pounds of bent steel was shipped to Great Falls, MT for fabrication. This project was unique due to the wide range of materials needing to be rolled. We bent the following materials: Tube Steel 12" X 4" X .250" WALL A500 GR B Tube Steel 12" X 2" X .250" WALL A500 GR B Tube Steel 3" X 1½" X .120" WALL A513 Tube Steel 3" X 1" X .120" WALL A513 6" X 3½" X 5/16" ANGLE A36 5" X 3" X ¼" ANGLE A36 4" X 4" X 3/8" ANGLE A36 3" X 3" X ¼" ANGLE A36 7" X 4" X 3/8" ANGLE A36

Albina Co., Inc. recently bent 90 pieces of Tube Steel 8" X 4" X .375" WALL A500 GR C the hardway to a complicated “S” configuration. The tightest “S” section that we bent was down to a 59” radius. All of the material was bent cold on our profile rolling equipment. This steel was shipping to a good customer in Canada to be fabricated and then installed at Simon Fraser University.

Albina Co., Inc. recently completed bending 21,000 pounds of curved steel for a Providence Medical Center located in Medford, Oregon. We bent Tube steel 8" X 6" X .250" WALL A500 GR B bent the Easy way to a 22 ft radius, tube steel 6" X 4" X .250" WALL A500 GR B Bent the Hard way to a 17 ft radius and Tube steel 6" X 3" X .250" WALL A500 GR B of which 4 lengths were bent the Easy way to a 23 ft radius and 4 lengths were bent the Hard way to a 17 ft radius. Lastly, we bent Tube steel 6" X 6" X .250" WALL A500 GR B Bent to a 44 ft radius.

We are basketball junkies in our family and we love watching March Madness! We love it because all scenarios are represented: big history-rich dominating schools vs. small underdog first timers, big boisterous coaches vs. the silent tactical types, and big 7-footers vs. small point guards. This last scenario is true in our family as I stand at 6'6" and Jaime almost a foot shorter. You can see below why Jaime, who actually played D1 college basketball, implemented a "no shot blocking rule" when we first started dating!! Albina Co., Inc. recently bent 3/8” solid bar coiled to create 54 total springs to a 6” center-center diameter on pitch and also bent the required terminals. The coils will be used for a footwear display to help show the “springiness of the manufacturer’s shoes.”

Ovality is simply how “out of round” a round material is. The new ovality calculator determines the % of ovality (i.e. the % the material is out of round). All round material has a certain amount of ovality (even as straight material) nothing is PERFECTLY round, mills will produce material to an ovality tolerance. When bending round material, the material will slightly oval. The material theoretic OD, the wall thickness, the radius the material is bent to and the bending method (i.e. how is the material bent) will all impact the final ovality of bent round material. Customers that are using pipe for pressure retaining systems, heat exchangers, industrial applications, boiler tubes, etc. are all concerned about the ovality of round material after bending. The ovality calculator is a great addition to our already vast offering of general bending calculators and spiral math calculators available online. The AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) recently issued a press release announcing a dozen structural steel projects that have earned recognition in the 2018 Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture with Structural Steel awards program (IDEAS2). Albina Co., Inc. was the steel bender of choice for the Merit Award winner UC Davis Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, Davis, Calif.
