Curved Steel Provides Eye Catching Roof Structure for Religious Building
Albina Co., Inc. recently bent various pieces of tube steel to form an eye catching curved roof structure for a religious building in Lodi, California. The material consisted of tube steel 16" X 4" X .500" WALL A500 GR B bent the easy way to a tightest radius of 9’ 6 1/8” centerline radius and tube steel 14" X 4" X .375" WALL A500 GR B bent the easy way to a tightest radius of 12’ 0 ¼” centerline radius. Curved Steel Beams Provide Structural Support for Elevated Track
Track season is in full swing and did you know that our curved steel members are used to create many of the elevated tracks that reside in recreational facilities and fitness centers around the country? Albina Co., Inc. bent several pieces of large wide flange W33 x 169# that provided the curved structural supports for the elevated track frame for the Fitness Center at Eielson Airforce Base. Updated Pictures for Curved Steel Spheres in Seattle, WA.
The erection of the curved steel "Spheres" in Seattle, Washington is complete. Check out the completed pictures below. As a reminder, Albina’s scope of work included approximately 750,000# and 1.050 pieces of rectangular tube steel bent the easy way and a portion bent off-axis. The material was bent to tight tolerances and bent to AESS standards. The amount of welds and grinding was significant, but thanks to Albina’s ability to bend portions of the project, a significant amount of welding and grinding was avoided. Almost NO correction was needed during fabrication or erection as the bends fit to fixtures (fabrication) within 1/32nd of an inch! Check back for more pictures as the project progresses! Curved Steel Construction in Seattle, WA.
There is an impressive curved steel building currently being erected in Seattle, WA. right now! For The Spheres, Albina’s scope of work included approximately 750,000# and 1.050 pieces of bent steel material consisting of TS 9" X 5" X .500" WALL A500 GR B, TS 10" X 6" X .500" WALL A500 GR B, and TS 12" X 8" X .500" WALL A500 GR B. The curved steel sections were bent the easy way and a portion bent off-axis. All material is AESS with very tight tolerances. The project consists of 8 miles of welds and 8 miles of grinding performed by the lead fabricator! The amount of welds and grinding was significant, but thanks to Albina's ability to bend portions of the project, a significant amount of welding and grinding was avoided. The bends fit to fixtures (fabrication) within 1/32nd of an inch! Almost NO correction was needed during fabrication or erection. Structural Steel Bending at Peterson Auto Museum
Albina Co., Inc. bent 36 pieces of 6 5/8" OD X .375" wall round steel tubing and 384 pieces of 6" SCH80 6061-T6 ALUM to create the unique shape for the Peterson Auto Museum in Los Angeles, CA. Albina cut, bent and trimmed all pieces per the provided drawings. While most of the bent material was covered with the "skin" of the building, the bent steel parts are what gave the museum its' unique shape and appearance. Every part was slightly different and needed to be processed to very tight tolerances. Photos courtesy of Zahner. Albina Co., Inc. Bends Curved Steel Roof Trusses for Residential Construction
Are you looking to build a new home or do a remodel to make your home stand out from the rest?  Think about using curved steel beams to give your roof line a unique, eye catching look.  Not to mention, the structural integrity of the curved steel beams is unparalleled when compared to other building materials. Albina Co., Inc, recently completed a project for a personal residence in California that involved splitting wide flange W12 X 30# A992 into WT6 X 15# and rolling stem in to a 75 ft radius. Albina also rolled tube steel TS 10" X 6" X .500" WALL A500 GR B the hardway to a 75 ft radius and wide flange W10 X 30# A992 the hardway to a 75 ft radius to create the curved roof trusses. There is a Price and There is a Cost
When it comes to choosing which vendor you are going to use for a job, are you just buying on price? Please don't. There is a price, and an ultimate end cost for every job you do. Price vs. Cost The price of a competitor might be below ours, but when you add up all of the actual costs to receive and install the material, is there really a cost savings? If you chose the lowest price, you may deal with late delivery, poor quality or incorrect parts and a lack of or delayed communication. If you choose the lowest price, you will get what you pay for. Risk vs. Reward It might seem like a risk to purchase from a supplier that isn't the "lowest price." The rewards are greater than the risk. Albina will provide you with a "fair price" and we will provide you with a better quality product. We will provide you the correct parts the first time. We will provide on-time delivery. Our trained, experienced staff will provide unmatched service and communication related to every aspect of your project. Albina Co., Inc. Steel Bending Experts
High Demand for Bent Steel Parts in the Hi-Tech Industry
Albina Co., Inc. has recently been awarded the bending for a hi-tech data storage facility. Albina did a great deal of steel bends for a previous data storage facility completed in 2012. The most recent data storage facility is scheduled for completion next month. The bending for the recent data storage facility amounts to almost 150,000# of structural steel and HSS. The bending for this project is very difficult and certainly needs to be processed by a bending expert. The first project came to Albina as our customer had 100% confidence in our abilities to perform as promised. With the first project being a smashing success for our customer we were awarded the bending for the second (and larger) Data Center. Materials on this project consist of the following: TS 8” x 4” x .375” wall rolled the Hard-Way to a very tight 11’ 2½” outside radius. Tolerances for these parts are critical and are being checked to a full scale layout. W14 X 26# A992 being split to W7 x 13# and also rolled to an 11’ 2½” outside radius. W12 X 22# A992 being split to W6 x 11# and rolled to a matching 11’ 2½” outside radius. This is a fast track project. Our valued customer came to us with tight schedule requirements. Albina has committed to working day and night shifts (including weekends) to help expedite the project and meet our customer’s needs. When dealing with Albina anything is seemingly possible!
Curved Steel Projects Heat Up!
The reemergence of the sunshine and warm weather in Oregon has seemed to also generate some very large Structural Steel, Plate, Pipe, Square and Rectangular tubing projects.  Many of these projects also include some supplemental fabrication work.  Supplemental fabrication projects typically involve bent materials that are then welded, drilled, trimmed, etc (i.e. value added services).  We provide these services to allow our customers (typically fabricators or manufactures) to cut one PO and not have to worry about processing secondary processes in their busy shops.  Albina has been proactive in our facility planning to allow for this surge of work.  We recently purchased another building that is being erected on our property.  This building will act as storage for work in process materials and projects.  Storing material outside our main facility will free up valuable manufacturing space for some of our massive summer / fall curved steel projects. We are always trying to stay one step ahead of demand to continue to bring our customers the exceptional service they have grown accustomed to.
