We have added some digital jigsaw puzzles of recently completed projects to our website for your enjoyment! Puzzles will be added monthly of projects featuring curved and bent steel. Enjoy "putting together the pieces" (like our fabricators often do with our bent steel parts)!

Albina’s calculators can be found here: https://www.albinaco.com/calculators
Albina also specializes in plate bending, not just HSS, Pipe, Tube, and Structural Steel bending. Countless customers come to Albina for our plate rolling expertise, including bending plate into a cone configuration. Many customers require a cone calculator. There are many cone calculators available, but we typically use a calculator located here: https://i-logic.com/conecalc/. Not only will this calculator provide the end user with the critical cone dimensions, but also the cone flat pattern.

Bridgeport Village, an upscale outdoor mall in Tigard, Oregon recently underwent a $35 million dollar modernization and now features covered seating areas, a central courtyard area with new landscaping, a performance stage, updated building facades and about 20 new storefronts. Albina Co., Inc. was instrumental in helping the developers update the storefronts and bent various materials including:
2 lengths x 40 ft: W10 X 22# A992
Albina to roll all possible from each length (the easy way) to a 40’-4” centerline radius.
4 pcs of 3” X 3” X ¼” ANGLE A36
Albina to roll all possible from each length (leg in) to a 42’-7” outside radius.
3 lengths x 20 ft: 3” X 2” X ¼” ANGLE A36
Albina to roll all possible from each length (3” Leg in) to a 59’-1” outside radius.
3 lengths x 20 ft: 6” X 4” X 5/16” ANGLE A36
Albina to roll all possible from each length (4” Leg in) to a 59’-1” outside radius.
5 lengths x 20 ft: C10 X 20# A36
Albina to roll all possible from each length (flanges out) to radii ranging from 52’-7” – 59’-1”.

2 lengths x 20 ft: 3” X 3” X ¼” ANGLE A36
Albina to roll all possible from each length (Leg out) to a 52’-7” inside radius.

Albina bent 10 lengths of 60-65 foot spans of wide flange W36 X 135# A709-50W the easy way to a radius range of 95 ft – 229 ft, depending on the length and section of the bridge. The Red Electric Bridge, located in Southwest Portland, provides pedestrians and cyclists with a direct, car-free link to the main streets of the area through a forested gulch.

Albina created the curved steel diaphragm used to support the roof structure and provided various bent materials to help construct the landmark tower at the northeast corner of the facility as well as the jumbotron. Designers wanted to create a structure that was open and airy, allowing spectators to enjoy great views and natural daylight, in an intimate environment.
Pipe: Hayward Field Roof
We rolled 600 lengths, varying from 28’-0” to 75’-6” long, of 14" OD X .375" / .500 WALL A500-18 GRADE B&C. That is 1,500,000# lot weight (750 tons) of rolled steel, 32 inbound trucks and 90 outbound trucks.
Plate: Hayward Field Roof
The 14” OD material was laid over the top of the plate that we bent for this project. We bent 300 lengths, varying from 3’-0” to 37’-0” long, of PLATE 1½" THICK X 16¾" WIDE A572 GR. 50 and PLATE 1½" THICK X 10" WIDE A572 GR. 50.

In addition, we provided various bent steel parts for general field enhancement and utilities at the newly renovated complex.
Our work was extremely precise, and we had zero rejected parts by the fabricator, Fought & Co., Inc. In fact, they also informed us that when measuring the work points during fabrication, they never once had to heat up or adjust the bending. To make the erection process go smoothly, we marked every 3-4 feet on the centerline back of the pipe to assist in the layout process for the diagrid “fish-mouth” stubs, and up-stands for the roofing system.

In addition to the iconic roof, the tower at Hayward creates a community landmark honoring the first 100 years of track and field at Oregon.

We rolled 400 lengths for Alpha Iron, varying from 20’-0” to 60’-0” long, of Tube Steel 8" X 4" X .500" WALL A500 GR B, 8-5/8" OD X .625" WALL A500C WHEELED, 8-5/8" OD X .375" WALL A500C WHEELED, 8-5/8" OD X .250" WALL A500C WHEELED, and Flat Bar 3/8" X 4½" A36. That is 330,000# lot weight (165 tons) of rolled steel, 10 inbound trucks and 16 outbound trucks!

Hayward Field Jumbotron
Albina bent 101,000# total pounds for this project for Alpha Iron. We bent 43 pieces (20 lens x 50 ft: 10¾" OD X .375" WALL A500 GR. C) to various radii ranging from 5'-3" up to 224'-4" all to AESS standards. We bent 27 pieces (19 lens x 60 ft: 12¾" OD X .375" WALL A500 GR. C) to various radii ranging from 5'-11" up to 208'-8" all to AESS standards. We bent 3 pieces (1 len x 42 ft: 12¾" OD X .500" WALL A500 GR. C) to a 4'-6" radius all to AESS standards.
A project for the record books for sure.

Albina Co. Inc. bent the spiral staircases at the newly renovated Space Needle in Seattle, Washington. The Space Needle's rotating glass floor, dubbed "The Loupe", is located just below the open-air observation deck and Albina Co., Inc. was the steel bender/roller for the custom spiral staircases connecting the two areas. The stair centilevers off concealed supports, so the staircase appears to float above the glass floor below thus creating a very unique experience for the visitors.
Albina Co., Inc. bent 1" thick x 13 ¼" wide A572 GR 50 to yield three 180" pieces and three 144" pieces of rolled plate and 1" thick x 10-13/16" wide A572 GR 50 to yield one 80" piece of rolled plate. We also bent tube steel 10" x 6" x .625" WALL A500 GR B to a 11’ 6” inside plan view radius (the easy way).
More detailed information on the project can be found in the May 2022 Issue of Modern Steel.

When guests walked into the Met Gala’s Great Hall, they were greeted by the Statue of Liberty’s eternal flame of enlightenment at the centerpiece of this year’s ball. Albina bent the 1” pipe framework for the ribbons of a towering spiral staircase leading to the shimmering flame. When our customer received the bends, they had this to say:
"We received the bends and they look great! I appreciate that everything was checked and well labeled before you guys sent it out. It was a pleasure working with you and I hope to do business in the future."
The centerpiece was featured in Vogue Magazine and a time lapse of the erection can be seen on Instagram. Below are a few pictures from the fabrication and erection processes.
