The National Steel Bridge Alliance (NSBA) is a division of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). The NSBA's mission is to promote steel as the preferred material for bridge design and construction and to increase steel's share of the bridge market. Albina Co., Inc. is one of the leading structural steel fabricators for steel bridges that contain bent or curved structural members for architectural, structural or ornamental applications. The NSBA brings together the structural steel fabricators and producers with agencies and groups who have a stake in the success of steel bridge construction, including representatives from AASHTO, FHWA, state DOTs, bridge consultants, erectors, and representatives of the coatings, fastener, and welding industries. The NSBA assist with bridge design specifications and provides technical assistance and reviews throughout the drawing/specification process. The World Bridge Symposium is taking place March 26-28th in conjunction with the North American Steel Construction Show, The Annual Stability Conference, and the Technology in Steel Construction Conference at the Metro Toronto Convention Center.

Albina Co., Inc. recently bent 64 lengths x 30 ft of Tube Steel 6” x 4” x .250” wall for some curved roof trusses for the Presidio Parkway Doyle Tunnel in San Francisco. Over 30,000# of material was bent the hard way to a 52 foot radius.

The 2014 Metal Directory & Resource Guide will be coming out this month and features an ad by Albina Co., Inc. highlighting various bent steel projects and applications. Albina Co., Inc. recently completed a spiral staircase at the American Girl store at the Standford Shopping Center in San Francisco, California. Albina rolled the stringers and railings out of various materials including: TS 14" X 4" X .375" WALL A500 GR B 2" X 2" X 3/16" ANGLE A36 1½" OD X .120" WALL HREW FB 3/4" X 2" A36

The 2014 NASCC (North American Steel Construction Conference) will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Center in Toronto, Canada March 26-28th. The Steel Conference is the place for engineers, fabricators, detailers and erectors to learn about structural steel design and construction, to interact with their peers and to see the latest products for steel buildings and bridges. This year, in addition to the NASCC exhibit hall, three additional conferences will be incorporated into the show: The Annual Stability Conference, The Technology in Steel Construction Conference, and the World Steel Bridge Symposium. There will be various technical seminars, networking opportunities and product showcases tailored towards structural engineers, detailers, erectors and fabricators alike. The February issue of Metal Architecture features various metal roof solutions and will be the main publication handed out at the International Roofing Expo February 26-28th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Albina Co., Inc. had the opportunity to feature several of their high-profile bent steel projects in many of the national trade publications during the month of February. NOMMA's (National Ornamental of Misc. Metals Association) Annual Buyers Guide features several spiral, circular and helical staircases using materials such as plate, pipe, tube and structural members. It also highlights some of the decorative gates, fences and signage that we specialize in. One new product that Albina is offering includes complete handrail kits. The handrails are bent and trimmed per the customer's drawing, the mid-rails trimmed and coped, and the assemblies are supplied as individual parts or fabricated complete! Albina specializes in architecturally designed pedestrian bridges and walk-ways erected at transportation stations, universities, museums, large businesses, and state parks. Albina was just awarded another project consisting of 1,050 pieces of 2" OD X .065" WALL 6061-T6 ALUM. These parts are being processed complete by Albina (cut, bent, trimmed, drilled and machined) and the work was moved to Albina from China because the customer required better quality and a more favorable lead-time. In addition, the customer was pleasantly surprised with the competitive pricing we were able to provide on the job. The lowest price should not be the main determining factor when choosing a steel bending contractor. Albina Co., Inc. recently cut, bent, trimmed, weld marked and galvanized 30,000# of bent pipe and tube for a post tensioning piping (conduit) project. Materials we processed included: 5" OD X .250 WALL A500 GR. B, 4½" OD X .237 WALL A500 GR. B, and 3½" OD X .216 WALL A500 GR. B
