The NCSEA (National Council of Structural Engineers Associations) awarded the Newport Beach Civic Center and Park with the “Outstanding Project Award for New Buildings Over $100 Million.” Albina Co., Inc. was the bender/roller for the iconic curved wide-flanged waved roofs that line the façade of the building. The AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) recognized this same project as a 2014 IDEA National Award Winner in the Spring of 2014. For the past several years, many benders and rollers around the country have exhibited at the AIA (American Institute of Architects) Annual Convention. This year the convention will be held in Chicago, June 26-28, 2014. The AIA show brings architects, engineers, designers and innovators together to learn about the latest and greatest in building materials and technologies. The 2014 NASCC (North American Steel Construction Conference) will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Center in Toronto, Canada March 26-28th. The Steel Conference is the place for engineers, fabricators, detailers and erectors to learn about structural steel design and construction, to interact with their peers and to see the latest products for steel buildings and bridges. This year, in addition to the NASCC exhibit hall, three additional conferences will be incorporated into the show: The Annual Stability Conference, The Technology in Steel Construction Conference, and the World Steel Bridge Symposium. There will be various technical seminars, networking opportunities and product showcases tailored towards structural engineers, detailers, erectors and fabricators alike. Albina Co., Inc. recently bent 64 lengths x 30 ft of Tube Steel 6” x 4” x .250” wall for some curved roof trusses for the Presidio Parkway Doyle Tunnel in San Francisco. Over 30,000# of material was bent the hard way to a 52 foot radius. The Presidio Tunnel will have the same arched portal design as the roof that was installed at Battery Tunnel. All of the material was bent to architecturally exposed structural steel standards and as the customer stated during their fabrication and assembly of the parts, “The pictures below will show you how perfect things fit”.

Albina Co., Inc. recently bent 11,000# of 50 foot lengths of W21 x 62# A992 structural steel the hard way to produce some curved roof trusses. In addition to the bent wide flange, Albina also bent various sizes of tube steel ranging from 8" x 8" x .375" wall to 18" x 6" x .500" wall both the hard way and the easy way down to a 23'-0" outside radius. Albina has been involved in numerous hospital and clinic remodels and new construction builds. Albina provides curved roof trusses and canopies for many industries. Some other noteworthy projects include: a) 24" OD x 1" wall pipe 46' 0" outside radius bent within PFI standards St. Mary's Center for Health Reno, NV. b) 125,000# of Tube Steel rolled to AESS standards. The material ranged from TS 10" x6" x .375" wall to TS 20" x 8" x. 625' wall for the New South Main Health Clinic in Utah.
