Curved Steel Provides Eye Catching Roof Structure for Religious Building
Albina Co., Inc. recently bent various pieces of tube steel to form an eye catching curved roof structure for a religious building in Lodi, California. The material consisted of tube steel 16" X 4" X .500" WALL A500 GR B bent the easy way to a tightest radius of 9’ 6 1/8” centerline radius and tube steel 14" X 4" X .375" WALL A500 GR B bent the easy way to a tightest radius of 12’ 0 ¼” centerline radius. Updated Pictures for Curved Steel Spheres in Seattle, WA.
The erection of the curved steel "Spheres" in Seattle, Washington is complete. Check out the completed pictures below. As a reminder, Albina’s scope of work included approximately 750,000# and 1.050 pieces of rectangular tube steel bent the easy way and a portion bent off-axis. The material was bent to tight tolerances and bent to AESS standards. The amount of welds and grinding was significant, but thanks to Albina’s ability to bend portions of the project, a significant amount of welding and grinding was avoided. Almost NO correction was needed during fabrication or erection as the bends fit to fixtures (fabrication) within 1/32nd of an inch! Check back for more pictures as the project progresses! Customer Quote of Appreciation for Steel Bending Quality
We always love to receive positive feedback from our customers when we meet or exceed their steel bending and fabrication needs. Here is a recent quote of appreciation for some curved steel we provided for a project currently being erected in Seattle, WA. "I would like to thank you and your team for your efforts on making this project a huge success. Because of your great workmanship and detail to meeting such tight tolerances, everything is fitting up in the field with no problems. In fact most everything in the field is fitting to +/- 1/8”. The erector is 85% complete with the erection and they are hanging the steel 2-3 times faster than they had anticipated with no problems. That is phenomenal. The on-site welding inspector told us that he has never seen anything fit so well with no problems in his lifetime."
Curved Steel Construction in Seattle, WA.
There is an impressive curved steel building currently being erected in Seattle, WA. right now! For The Spheres, Albina’s scope of work included approximately 750,000# and 1.050 pieces of bent steel material consisting of TS 9" X 5" X .500" WALL A500 GR B, TS 10" X 6" X .500" WALL A500 GR B, and TS 12" X 8" X .500" WALL A500 GR B. The curved steel sections were bent the easy way and a portion bent off-axis. All material is AESS with very tight tolerances. The project consists of 8 miles of welds and 8 miles of grinding performed by the lead fabricator! The amount of welds and grinding was significant, but thanks to Albina's ability to bend portions of the project, a significant amount of welding and grinding was avoided. The bends fit to fixtures (fabrication) within 1/32nd of an inch! Almost NO correction was needed during fabrication or erection. Albina Co., Inc. Bends Curved Steel Roof Trusses for Residential Construction
Are you looking to build a new home or do a remodel to make your home stand out from the rest?  Think about using curved steel beams to give your roof line a unique, eye catching look.  Not to mention, the structural integrity of the curved steel beams is unparalleled when compared to other building materials. Albina Co., Inc, recently completed a project for a personal residence in California that involved splitting wide flange W12 X 30# A992 into WT6 X 15# and rolling stem in to a 75 ft radius. Albina also rolled tube steel TS 10" X 6" X .500" WALL A500 GR B the hardway to a 75 ft radius and wide flange W10 X 30# A992 the hardway to a 75 ft radius to create the curved roof trusses. Look Around: We've Got You Covered
When people ask me what I do and where I work, I get excited to tell them the answer because it almost comes as a surprise when I describe what our company does. When I say, " I work for a steel bending and fabrication company" many people look at me inquisitively and ask "so what does that mean?" Since many of the products we make require someone to look above eye level, my common response is "next time you are outside, look up, look around, any time you see bent steel on a canopy, a roof truss, a store front...those are the kinds of things we make." Many people go as far as to comment, "I never really thought about the fact that the steel has to be bent somehow!" So next time you look up and see a curved steel structure, think of Albina. "We've Got You Covered!"
Oregon State University "Student Experience Center Canopy"
Albina Co., Inc. recently provided the curved steel beams for an 8,000 square foot glass canopy at the Oregon State University (OSU) Student Experience Center, installed in Corvallis Oregon. The canopy links the new Student Experience Center with the Memorial Union. The canopy is not only functional (allowing for a protected space when it is raining during outdoor events) but also a signature structure on the Oregon State University campus. The bending portion of this project required very large HSS rectangular tubing to be bent consistently from piece to piece with little to no deformation. Albina bent 8 lengths of TS 20” x 12” x .500” wall A500 Gr. B, all over 70 ft long. Albina also bent 44 lengths x 60 ft and 23 lengths x 25 ft of TS 6” x 3” x .313” wall A500 Gr. B, this material was “double bent” the easy-way and the hard-way. Fought & Co., a structural steel fabrication shop located in Tigard Oregon, teamed up with Albina to successfully produce the required canopy. curved steel canopy at student experience center OSU-1 curved steel canopy at student experience center OSU-2
