Lots of OEM Parts Require Curved or Bent Steel!
Lots of OEM Parts Require Curved or Bent Steel!

Albina Co, Inc. produces consistent, accurate and repeatable rolled metal parts and components for various OEM and industrial business sectors. We produce small parts such as pipe spools, hydraulic lines, handles, brake bands, boiler tubes, heat exchangers, and coils.

We bend and fabricate pipe spools for a variety of different industries. We have the ability to provide small and large spools out of both carbon and stainless materials. Our qualified welders can TIG or MIG weld spools depending on customer requirements.

Our bent steel can be seen on various applications in the auto, marine, aviation, locomotive, agricultural and food processing sectors. Our bends are used on locomotive frames, boat frames, deck rails and even components for homeland security helping to protect our docks and ports. Here is an example of an extremely impressive bend for a commercial processing application:

Albina bent, torch cut out, fit and tack welded 10" SCH120 SA106B SMLS to a 12 ft radius.

10" SCH120 SA106B SMLS bent to a 12 foot radius.

Our plate roll is consistently rolling custom tanks for countless industries, brake bands for industrial manufacturers and non-standard pipe diameters.

Our qualified crew has the skills required to fabricate your wear backs, or other pressure retaining components.

If your product needs to be opened, closed, held or picked up, we can produce your handle!

Albina has the expertise to bend coils to virtually any configuration. We coil all forms of material: pipe, tubing, square and rectangular. We also work with all types of material: carbon, stainless, aluminum, copper, zirconium, etc. One call can result in bent material fully fabricated with flanges, fittings, miscellaneous components, etc.

Most alternative energy projects require AESS (Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel) and Albina can bend to your AESS requirements. Team up with Albina on your next project so we can help you recognize savings and treat you to a stress free experience.

The Change You Create
The Change You Create

As we near the end of the pandemic, and start to come out of the recession, we are seeing little signs of change and positivity more and more every day. The phones are ringing, people are becoming more engaged, and projects are finally getting off the ground. Together, we have the opportunity to turn the dark and dreary days of the last year, into something bright and beautiful for the years ahead. Let's put some positivity and color into this world, and it wouldn't hurt if we put some more curved steel in it as well. Ha! @brooke_smith_photography

Rolling Along & Staying Strong: Our Variable Axis Plate Roll is Strong, Reliable & Efficient
Rolling Along & Staying Strong: Our Variable Axis Plate Roll is Strong, Reliable & Efficient

Boy, has it been a long time since we have heard words like "solid, efficient and reliable" used, instead of words like "uncertain, unexpected, and unknown" that have been used so often these last few months in our country. Well, we are here to share with you that our variable axis plate rolling machine has drastically increased our capacity for plate rolling and we are excited about the opportunity to bid your plate rolling needs!
DAVI recently contacted us to conduct an interview related to our experience with both the MCP Big Angle Roll and the MAV Variable Axis Plate Roll. Click here to read "Face to Face With A Master Bender." Watch the video below to learn more and to see the MAV in action!

The overall capacity for standard A36 plate is 10 ft x 2½” thick. For higher yield material (example 60 ksi) the machine can pre-bend and roll the following examples:

  1. 10 ft x 1 5/8″ thick to a 61″ outside diameter.
  2. 9 ft x 1 3/4″ thick to a 96″ outside diameter.
  3. 10 ft x 3/4″ thick to a 30″ inside diameter.

Hayward Field Renovation:“The Front Runner in Steel Bending. We Tower Above the Rest."

Photo Credit: University of Oregon Track & Field

We were thrilled to be an integral part of reconstructing Hayward Field at the University of Oregon. Hayward Field is the world-class home to @OregonTF. Albina created the curved steel diaphragm used to support the roof structure and provided various bent materials to help construct the landmark tower at the northeast corner of the facility. Designers wanted to create a structure that was open and airy, allowing spectators to enjoy great views and natural daylight, in an intimate environment. See https://linktr.ee/AlbinaCoInc for pictures, video and more!

For the roof, we rolled 600 lengths, varying from 28’-0” to 75’-6” long, of 14" OD X .375" / .500 WALL A500-18 GRADE B&C. That is 1,500,000# lot weight (750 tons) of rolled steel, 32 inbound trucks and 90 outbound trucks. The 14” OD material was laid over the top of the plate that we bent for this project. We bent 300 lengths, varying from 3’-0” to 37’-0” long, of PLATE 1½" THICK X 16¾" WIDE A572 GR. 50 and PLATE 1½" THICK X 10" WIDE A572 GR. 50.

In addition to the iconic roof, the tower at Hayward (187 feet tall) creates a community landmark honoring the first 100 years of track and field at Oregon. We rolled 400 lengths, varying from 20’-0” to 60’-0” long, of Tube Steel 8" X 4" X .500" WALL A500 GR B, 8-5/8" OD X .625" WALL A500C WHEELED, 8-5/8" OD X .375" WALL A500C WHEELED, 8-5/8" OD X .250" WALL A500C WHEELED, and Flat Bar 3/8" X 4½" A36. That is 330,000# lot weight (165 tons) of rolled steel, 10 inbound trucks and 16 outbound trucks!

Our work was extremely precise, and we had zero rejected parts by the fabricator, Fought & Co., Inc. When measuring the work points during fabrication, they never once had to heat up or adjust the bending. To make the erection process go smoothly, we marked every 3-4 feet on the centerline back of the pipe to assist in the layout process for the diagrid “fish-mouth” stubs, and up-stands for the roofing system.
