Stainless Steel Pipe Bending of Small Parts for Manufacturing Application
Stainless Steel Pipe Bending of Small Parts for Manufacturing Application

We recently completed a very difficult job in which we bent 3" OD X .065" WALL T304 Stainless Steel POLISHED, 2½" OD X .065" WALL T304 Stainless Steel POLISHED, and 1/2" OD X .065" WALL T304 Stainless Steel Polished for a manufacturing customer. The really tight bends in the picture below are elbows (butt-weld fittings) that are purchased off the shelf at a pipe supply house. The bends we did are the larger radii bends. Albina is a reliable vendor when it comes to producing bent parts for manufacturing applications. When applicable, we can provide same day and/or shutdown services which is a huge plus for customers that rely on equipment running 24 hours a day. Albina is also qualified to process NQA-1 work for certified NQA-1 shops.

Curved Pipe for Oak Harbor Wind Sculpture in Bellingham, Washington
Curved Pipe for Oak Harbor Wind Sculpture in Bellingham, Washington

We partnered with Architectural Elements, a specialty metals fabrication shop in Bellingham, Washington to create this wind sculpture for the city of Oak Harbor. Albina bent 3½" SCH40 A53B ERW WHEELED- 10 lengths x 42 feet for the project. The sculpture was designed by Architectural Elements design engineer, Kyle Thomas and the photos below are © 2018 by Melissa Marteny.

Curved Steel parts for Water Jet Equipment
Albina Co., Inc. recently bent 20 pieces of 3/8" OD X .125" WALL T304 S/S TBE that will be used on some water jet equipment. We coiled the material to a 8” diameter and bent the terminals on a 1½” center-line radius. We produce consistent, accurate and repeatable rolled metal parts and components for various manufacturing and industrial business sectors. We produce small parts such as hydraulic lines, handles, brake bands, pipe spools, boiler tubes, heat exchangers, and coils. Our bent steel can be seen on various applications in the auto, marine, aviation, locomotive, agricultural and food processing sectors. Our bends are used on locomotive frames, boat frames, deck rails and even components for homeland security helping to protect our docks and ports. Coils and Rolled Plate Cylinders
We recently completed bending some component parts for a customer which were a mix of carbon steel and nickel plate, pipe and bar. In the first image, we bent the coil, the terminals, the cylinder and the cylinder stiffeners. In the second image, we bent the inner and out cylinders on the top half. On the third image, we bent the upper and lower cylinders. Our customer was so thrilled with the parts that we provided, we received the following email from them: "The components Albina did for us were fantastic! Please pass along to your guys that the items you guys made were just about perfect. It really helped the fabrication process go smoothly. We really appreciate the work you did on this project for us." Cooling spool coil cylinders bent out of plate cylinders bent out of plate
Rolled Plate and Pipe Help Customer Construct a "Chute"
We recently received these pictures from our customer. They used our rolled steel materials to construct this "chute." Albina rolled 6" SCH40 A53B ERW down to a 12 ft radius (tightest) and also rolled 1/2" A36 plate to fit to the laser cut plate on the face of the chute. We are hoping to get some pictures of the "chute" in action and will pass them along as soon as we do. Bending 1"OD Aluminum for Custom Boat Parts
We are making custom boat parts out of 1" OD X .065" WALL 6061-T6 ALUM material. Our customer needed 850 parts made for this one project. Each part was bent on a 2½” center-line radius to 90 degrees. Each part had one end flared to 37°. All parts needed to be supplied in a T6 condition upon completion and be anodized for a clean surface condition. Our bent steel can be seen on various applications in the auto, marine, aviation, locomotive, agricultural and food processing sectors. Our bends are used on locomotive frames, boat frames, deck rails and even components for homeland security helping to protect our docks and ports.
2" Sch 40 Curved Steel Bollards for Vehicle Control
Albina is your steel bending expert for large material as well as small material! We just finished a project that required 650 safety bollards. Bollards are thick, low posts, usually made of iron or steel for the purpose of diverting traffic from an area or road and also often used on a wharf for fastening mooring lines. This particular project was used for auto traffic diversion and the bollards were constructed out of 2" SCH40 A53B ERW BARE, bent to a 6” center-line-radius x 180 degrees. We produce custom bollards for urban traffic and vehicle control, for fastening mooring lines, as barriers and barricades, for pedestrian security, for ornamental landscape structures and for unique bike rack solutions.
Transbay Transit Center Nearing Completion
Albina has been involved with the Transbay Transit Center construction project since late 2014. Construction of the Transit Center, whick will connect eight Bay Area counties and the State of California through 11 transportation systems: AC Transit, BART, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit, Greyhound, Muni, SamTrans, WestCAT Lynx, Amtrak, Paratransit and California’s future High Speed Rail from San Francisco to Los Angeles/Anaheim. is currently underway. Construction is expected to be complete in late 2017. For the most recent phase of the project, Albina provided 48,000# of 4" OD X .125" WALL A513 and TS 8" X 2" X .250" WALL A500 GR B all bent to various configurations. To perform to the highest quality standards we sand filled some of the materials prior to rolling, which helped hold the original shop during the bending process. Does Your Construction Project Require Bollards?
Albina just recently completed work on a project that required 252 pcs of 2” Sch40 A53B ERW pipe bent for bollards. Each “staple” bollard was bent on a 6” center-line-radius (a double 90° configuration). All parts were held to a +/- 1/8” center-center dimension and they had to avoid all moisture (they could not rust). To avoid rust, all raw material and then finished product were store inside our facility. Prior to loading on a truck all parts were placed on pallets and covered with shrink wrap to protect them from moisture.
Bridge Drain Elbows Often Required on New and Retrofit Bridge Construction
Not all bridges are designed out of bent steel, however, most bridges DO require bent components. One such component, required on both retrofit or new bridge construction, is what is known as a bridge drain elbow. Albina is bending 6” Sch10 material on a new bending machine with new bend tooling for a Caltrans project. The bridge drain pipes we are supplying are 52 pieces in total that we are bending to a 18” center-line-radius (a 3d bend) at 90°. We are working closely with our customer to meet the tight Caltrans delivery requirements for this project. Stay tuned for some images of this project!
