We are basketball junkies in our family and we love watching March Madness! We love it because all scenarios are represented: big history-rich dominating schools vs. small underdog first timers, big boisterous coaches vs. the silent tactical types, and big 7-footers vs. small point guards. This last scenario is true in our family as I stand at 6’6″ and Jaime almost a foot shorter. You can see below why Jaime, who actually played D1 college basketball, implemented a “no shot blocking rule” when we first started dating!!
We think that this big vs. small comparison carries over so well into our business because we have the capability to bend steel for many different scenarios as well: big high-profile structural steel projects vs. small precision parts for manufacturing and industrial applications, large projects with mass quantities of bends vs. small one-piece bends for a one-time job and we are also a small, family owned business, yet we are the premier bending expert in the entire nation. No matter the job, big or small, we would love the opportunity to be Your Bending Expert.
Albina Co., Inc. recently bent 3/8” solid bar coiled to create 54 total springs to a 6” center-center diameter on pitch and also bent the required terminals. The coils will be used for a footwear display to help show the “springiness of the manufacturer’s shoes.”

Albina continues to be one of the steel industry leaders in safety.
Our shop workers always approach their jobs with safety in mind.
We have a team of workers and management that make up our safety committee. These team members meet monthly and conduct onsite walk throughs in our steel bending shop to identify potential safety hazards. These hazards are always promptly remedied to avoid any potential issues.
While most companies want to avoid safety inspections from OSHA, Albina welcomes these inspections. In fact we volunteer for OSHA safety inspections every year! Along with OSHA inspections we team up with a local vendor to act as our outside safety consultant. This vendor assists with our safety committee, educating us on current safety regulations and conducts safety walk-through’s with our safety committee team.
Albina is proud of being an industry leader in safety and continues to make improvements keeping our steel bending shop as safe as possible.
We follow-up with our customers after every job to make sure they were happy with their buying experience and the quality of the bent steel, as well as to simply say “Thank You for the work.” We love feedback as we strive to make improvements every day in our in-office and shop procedures and processes. After following up on a recent job at Worthy Brewing in Bend, OR., we received the following response “It is us that is thanking you! The channels worked out great, and everyone is thrilled with the look. This is definitely one of the coolest structural projects I have had. You guys pride yourself in your workmanship, and that makes it so much easier on our end when we start with a quality product. Thanks again for the top shelf service.”

As congress passes legislation for road improvements, bent steel parts used on heavy road equipment will play a big part in making those improvements possible. Albina services many industries and provides bent steel parts for not only automotive and heavy construction equipment, but also aircraft, aerospace, boat trailers, boats, locomotives, and agricultural farming equipment.
Curved steel is not just used to create architecturally aesthetically pleasing buildings, it is also used in smaller manufacturing applications that require consistent, accurate and repeatable bends to create parts. Albina bends steel parts for aircrafts, boat trailers, boats, agricultural farming equipment and automotive applications. We have recently done several steel bends for light rail and electric bus and car applications. Our bends are used on Locomotive frames, boat frames, deck rails and even components for homeland security helping to protect our docks and ports.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, I thought I would share a PT-658 boat restoration project that Albina Co., Inc. participated in. Albina bends and curves steel parts used on locomotive frames, boat frames, deck rails and even components for homeland security helping to protect our docks and ports. One example includes, PT-658, the last remaining operable PT boat from World War II. Albina bent and donated 3/4″ Sch40 Bare pipe bends to form a protective railing for the deck mounted guns and 5” OD x .120” wall stainless steel exhaust tubing for the Packard Diesel engines and 1/2” OD x .065” wall T304 stainless steel bends (coils) around the 5” OD stainless material to cool the extremely hot exhaust tubes.
