Rolling (aka "Pyramid Rolling") is the typical method of curving steel for construction related projects and is usually the most economical bending method for curving members to larger radii. A steel member is placed in a machine and curved as it moves through the three rolls. All three rolls are independently rolling / spinning and two of the rolls can move adjacent to the material creating more or less pressure on the material, resulting in tighter or larger radii. Roll bending is also commonly called "pyramid rolling" because of the three rolls' pyramid arrangement. Different radii are formed when the distance between the three rolls in relation to the material is manipulated before each successive pass. To successfully roll bend to required radii the material often makes multiple passes through the rolls.
These rolled plates you processed for us had to be welded together for an exposed circular guardrail. We assembled the plates, ends lined-up, radiuses matched – the parts fit perfectly. Thank you and your team for your accuracy and performance.
I ended up in the hospital when the stair stringers arrived, but I was told that it was the best job of rolling and forming the shop here had ever seen. It went together perfectly!
Curved steel members don't just "come that way" from the mill. Curved steel members are produced from straight lengths of material and are bent per your specifications.
Albina Co., Inc. produces the highest quality curved steel products in the steel industry and provides the most reliable and professional customer service experience.
