If you plan on taking a roadtrip through Oregon this summer, program your GPS for a stop at Oregon’s Historic Vista House. Vista House is an observatory at Crown Point in Multnomah County, Oregon and is a National Natural Landmark. The Vista House also serves as a memorial to Oregon pioneers. During the interior and exterior restoration of the building in the early 2000’s, Albina Co., Inc. bent a curved steel handrail to not only upgrade the 1918 facade designed by Edgar M. Lazerus, but to also help make the Vista House accessible to the handicapped. The curved steel handrail lines a ramp to the entry way of the dome and on the interior a disappearing lift between levels was added to assist handicapped visitors.
Albina Co., Inc. recently bent the spiral stringers, handrails, second floor guardrails, and observatory guardrails for the Science Community Center Observatory at Modesto Junior College in Modesto, CA.
Albina Co., Inc. recently completed a spiral staircase at the American Girl store at the Standford Shopping Center in San Francisco, California. Albina rolled the stringers and railings out of various materials including:
TS 14″ X 4″ X .375″ WALL A500 GR B
2″ X 2″ X 3/16″ ANGLE A36
1½” OD X .120″ WALL HREW
FB 3/4″ X 2″ A36
In addition to spiral stringers and spiral staircases, Albina Co. Inc. now offers handrail kits. Albina will bend and trim handrails per your drawing, mid-rails can be trimmed and coped, and assemblies can be supplied as individual parts or fabricated complete. We recently provided a very large handrail kit consisting of 1-1/4″ Sch40 A53B and 1″ Sch40 A53B bent to a 3″ centerline radius and the mid-rails were trimmed, miter-cut and coped per the customers specifications.
