Bent Steel Helps Improve Roadways

As congress passes legislation for road improvements, bent steel parts used on heavy road equipment will play a big part in making those improvements possible.  Albina services many industries and provides bent steel parts for not only automotive and heavy construction equipment, but also aircraft, aerospace, boat trailers, boats, locomotives, and agricultural farming equipment.

Steel Bending for Marine, Locomotive, Automotive & Agricultural Applications

Curved steel is not just used to create architecturally aesthetically pleasing buildings, it is also used in smaller manufacturing applications that require consistent, accurate and repeatable bends to create parts. Albina bends steel parts for aircrafts, boat trailers, boats, agricultural farming equipment and automotive applications. We have recently done several steel bends for light rail and electric bus and car applications. Our bends are used on Locomotive frames, boat frames, deck rails and even components for homeland security helping to protect our docks and ports.

Curved Steel Sign at Village at the Peaks Shopping Center

How do you catch the attention of holiday shoppers this time of year?  Place a decorative, eye-catching, ornamental sign at the entrance to your shopping center! Albina Co., Inc. can help you vision become a reality. Albina Co., Inc. recently completed another ornamental curved steel sign for the  Village at the Peaks shopping center in Colorado. The curved steel materials included bent wide flange W12 X 79# A992 the hard way and bent tube steel TS 2″ X 2″ X .250″ WALL A500 GRB.

Curved Steel Bends for Marine and Locomotive Parts In Honor of Veterans Day

In honor of Veteran’s Day, I thought I would share a PT-658 boat restoration project that Albina Co., Inc. participated in. Albina bends and curves steel parts used on locomotive frames, boat frames, deck rails and even components for homeland security helping to protect our docks and ports. One example includes, PT-658, the last remaining operable PT boat from World War II. Albina bent and donated 3/4″ Sch40 Bare pipe bends to form a protective railing for the deck mounted guns and 5” OD x .120” wall stainless steel exhaust tubing for the Packard Diesel engines and 1/2” OD x .065” wall T304 stainless steel bends (coils) around the 5” OD stainless material to cool the extremely hot exhaust tubes.

Curved Steel Pedestrian Bridges

Architecturally designed pedestrian bridges and walk-ways are often erected at transportation stations, universities, museums, business centers, and state parks. Most often, these curved steel bridges are constructed of bent or rolled structural steel including, pipe, square or rectangular tube steel, channel and wide flange. It depends on the application, the load requirements the AESS (Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel) requirements, and fabrication specifications of the project to determine which type of structural steel will best fit the needs of the project.

Look Around: We’ve Got You Covered

When people ask me what I do and where I work, I get excited to tell them the answer because it almost comes as a surprise when I describe what our company does. When I say, ” I work for a steel bending and fabrication company” many people look at me inquisitively and ask “so what does that mean?” Since many of the products we make require someone to look above eye level, my common response is “next time you are outside, look up, look around, any time you see bent steel on a canopy, a roof truss, a store front…those are the kinds of things we make.” Many people go as far as to comment, “I never really thought about the fact that the steel has to be bent somehow!” So next time you look up and see a curved steel structure, think of Albina. “We’ve Got You Covered!”

Size Doesn’t Matter for Albina Co., Inc.

Albina Co., Inc. is a small, family owned, 3rd generation company that can handle LARGE and SMALL projects requiring bent steel. While we do have a large national presence in the structural steel and architectural market of bent steel, we also love to work on smaller, local and regional projects that might only require a few simple bends. We have mastered the craft of steel bending and can be price competitive on smaller projects as well.

Keep in mind that our company was built on providing bent steel products for the manufacturing and industrial sectors and that mainstay of our business has not changed. We can provide the consistent, accurate, repeatable small parts you require for your bent steel project.
